Another winter snow storm is about to hit the northeast. If you’ve read some of my other posts you know I love the winter, so I’m pretty excited for this storm. However, I’m sure the majority of people out there have the opposite opinion, so I want to turn their frowns upside down. I’m recommending two of my favorite television series that are made for binge watching.
My mom’s favorite TV show is ER. She kept hyping it up and urging me to watch it, but it wasn't streaming anywhere. But now the entire 15 season, medical drama is streaming on Hulu!!! So I took my mom’s advice and as always, she was right, ER is beyond SWELL.
ER follows the life of the emergency room of a Chicago teaching hospital and the doctors, nurses, and med students that work there. I instantly fell in love with the characters and the story lines. In my opinion it is honestly one of the best television shows out there. From its unique plot lines and amazing acting to its fast paced cinematography and powerful editing. But don’t just take my word for it, ER recieved 124 Emmy nominations, making it the most nominated drama in television history.
So head on over to Hulu and watch all 331 episodes...my mom says so.
It’s the classic that never gets old. Putting on Friends pretty much solves any problem, lightens any mood, and ends the “what to watch” argument. To be totally honest I had never watched the series from plot to finale so I took it upon myself to change that.
Now, Friends is great if you watch one episode here and there, but to watch it from beginning to end is entirely different. You are able to pick up on certain subtleties, admire the camera work, and appreciate the never ending humor. The reason, in my opinion, for its popularity is its reliability. Everyone can see themselves in Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Chandler, Joey, and Ross. People can relate to the failures and triumphs these characters face. My parents related to them, I relate to them, and the next generation is going to as well. Not only do we relate to Friends, but we love it as well.
Get Netflix going, clap your hands to the theme song, and yes Netflix we are still watching.
So, grab your blankets, favorite pillow, a steaming cup of tea and hunker down on the couch. Bring on the snow mother nature, we’ve got Hulu and Netflix.
